About us
CW Studio is a design-led, award-winning landscape architecture practice focussed on creating thoughtful and sustainable landscapes and celebrating outdoor places.
The Manchester studio, founded in 2012 by director Carolyn Willitts, has a unique background, uniting commercial landscape architecture practice with Carolyn’s previous role as a theatre designer, creating a fresh approach to landscape design.
We like stories, take joy in creative collaboration, and love designing bespoke and inventive spaces that connect people to places. We are friendly, supportive and sociable. We thrive on learning something new every day.
Hybrid & Flexible Working
We believe that hybrid and flexible working improves our work-life balance, health, and happiness. Each employee has an annual well-being allowance which could cover a yoga app, reflexology sessions, new trainers for running… it is there for what you need.

Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of every project we work on and we actively seek sustainable solutions and specify with climate change and the biodiversity crisis at the forefront of each project. We are passionate about connecting people to urban nature and creating all the health and wellbeing benefits that can bring.
CW Studio was an early signatory to Landscape Architects Declare which seeks to raise awareness of the climate and biodiversity emergencies and the urgent need for practical action. Director Carolyn Willitts is proud to be on the steering group for Landscape Architects Declare and Construction Declares.
As a practice we have begun our exciting journey towards B Corp status which evaluates how CW Studio interacts with our employees, clients, community and the environment, and we have also signed up to the SME Climate Commitment to take action as a business to address climate change.
Diversity
We want to build CW Studio as an environment where people love their work and show respect and empathy to those with whom we interact. We believe that a more diverse team will benefit our work and our clients, allowing us to design with a wider range of perspectives and experiences.
Diversity typically includes, but is not limited to, differences in race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, political and religious affiliation, socioeconomic background, cultural background, geographic location, physical disabilities and abilities, relationship status, and age.
To work on diversity means that we welcome these differences and strive to increase the visibility of traditionally underrepresented groups in our industry.
